Rotary Club of Muyenga Launches WASH Training at Kabule Health Center III

Completed in 2025, UGANDA

Work is progressing at Kabule!

The Rotary Club of Muyenga, in partnership with the Strategic Water Alliance (SWA) – District 7610 – has taken a significant step toward building healthier, more resilient communities with the launch of a comprehensive WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) training program at Kabule Health Center III in Uganda.

This training is a key part of a broader Global Grant initiative that focuses on Rotary’s Areas of Focus: Water, Hygiene and Sanitation, Disease Prevention and Treatment, and Maternal and Child Health. It combines sustainable water infrastructure with essential community education, making sure that access to clean water results in long-term health benefits.

The training brought together key community leaders, including members of the Rotary Community Corps (RCC), healthcare professionals, Village Health Teams (VHTs)—trusted frontline health advocates—and facility managers. Their active participation reflects a shared commitment to improving public health through local ownership and leadership.

Key topics covered during the training included:

  • Hygiene behavior change and disease prevention strategies
  • Proper sanitation practices and their impact on health
  • Maintenance and sustainability of water infrastructure

In addition to the training, the Global Grant project provided Kabule Health Center III with a reliable and sustainable source of clean water, including borehole drilling, a solar-powered pump, and a water storage system. These critical improvements help prevent waterborne illness, support infection control at the facility, and create safer environments for patients—especially women and children.

This initiative restores dignity, health, and hope for hundreds of community members, while reducing the daily burden placed on women and girls to fetch water. It also enhances the quality of care at the health center, contributing to better outcomes for mothers and children.

We are especially grateful to the many Rotary Clubs in District 7610 whose generosity and commitment make the Strategic Water Alliance (SWA) possible. Their continued support is transforming lives and strengthening communities worldwide.

Together, as we unite for good, we are putting Service Above Self into action—one community, one solution, one life at a time.
